Feng shui is an ancient art that uses the principles of yin and yang to guide the flow of chi. Chi is energy and is the life force that is present in all life and objects. A balanced bedroom can improve one's love life, wealth and career.

The square at the bottom of the page represents the way a room is divided. The enterance door should be on the bottom line of the square.

When choosing the placement of your bed, in order for it to fully benefit all aspects of your life, the headboard should have a solid wall behind. There should be equal space on both sides of your bed. Also, nothing should be stored underneath the bed because it blocks the flow of energy. Perhaps the most important thing to remember when placing your bed is to not have it so your feet would be facing the door; this is known as the death position.

If you want to hang mirrors, the should be round or oval and hung in the relationship corner or the career wall. Never have a mirror facing a bad as it will reflect depression and other negative emotions. Pictures shold also be used sparingly and placed on the family wall, relationship corner, or helpful people corner.

Chi tends to travel between the door and any windows in the room so, if possible place the bed so the chi will have to pass it. When going to bed, all doors should be closed in order to keep the chi in the room so it can recharge your inner energy.

General feng shui tips for the bedroom include avoiding electronics. The bedroom is supposed to be a place for sleeping and making love. This ancient art of the chinese designates that each room has a certain purpose so the electronics should be in general living areas. If you are not willing to remove the television of computer, putting it behind the door of vanity or other blocking device will do the trick.

Large plants should be avoided but small plants are encouraged if placed on the fame wall.

The top left corner of your room represents wealth. If this is an area of your life in which you feel you need a boost, items such as money or jewelry should be kept in this area. The colors that represent this corner are red, purple and gold.

The middle top represents fame and reputation. This is where candle and plants can be placed. Awards may also be hung on this wall.

Top right corner is where attention should be focused if a relationship is feeling dull...or nonexistent. Surprisingly, the chinese thought pink would be a good color for this area. Pictures of loved ones should be placed in this area and paired items should be here as well. If you share a bed with a significant other, the bed should be stable and not sqeeky as that can affect the stability of the relationship.

The left wall of the room should house family photos (no surprise there), heirlooms and plants.

The middle of the room is just referred to as tao. It is the center of life because all things depend on it. It is very difficult to explain. Check out wikipedia for more information if you've made it this far in the article.

The right wall of the room should house art supplies and art work. If you have a computer in your room, it should be placed against the creativity and children wall. A bed would also do well if placed against this wall because, let's face it, we could all use a little more creativity in the bedroom.

The bottom left corner could have bookcases and other tools for self improvement. Even bookcases and books are discouraged from being in the room because it encourges excessive time in the bedroom.

The back wall should hold mirrors or water related items to help the chi move from the door around the room.

The final corner should house pictures of your "helper." Chi rocks so move your bed.
