As you're reading this, genocide is methodically being carried out. Over 1.1 million residents of Darfur's internal displacement camps have been denied foreign aid agencies assistance for nearly a month.

Darfur camps were already ripe with horrid conditions, including disease and malnutrition plaguing the population.

The semester is drawing to an end and university students are anxious to get classes over with. However, the closure of a business threatened to end the tradition of the pre-finals Springfest celebration. The sponsor for the previous two years, Suite 49, closed its doors earlier this year, leaving university students wondering if they would have to find their own way to celebrate the weekend before finals.

Many of the local efforts include promoting recycling practices and observing a "trayless day" in cafeterias to help save water on Earth Day.

Student Body Vice president, Matt Bakke, introduced this past week's senate meeting by warning all senators to control their attitudes. Recent meetings could have been considered a free-for-all of public threats and personal attacks. Bakke reminded each member of the senate that he possesses the authority to remove anyone from the meeting if their manners became hostile or insulting.

Dear Editor,

Many people rely on the public transportation system daily to get to their place of employment and do general errands.

For quite some time now, the public transportation system has not been fully meeting the needs of community members.

Therefore, we are holding a coalition meeting for individuals interested in seeing changes made to the current system.

Circuses are cruel and unnatural no matter whom the proceeds benefit. I understand that the Shriners' philanthropy is Children's hospitals, but the end doesn't always justify the means.

Despite the cold Friday afternoon weather at Kraft Field in Grand Forks, the Sioux baseball team swung some hot bats.
North Dakota swept the visiting Dakota Wesleyan team in a doubleheader Friday afternoon to cap off a four game home stand. A walk-off home run would win them game one 6-5 and a solid pitching performance and endless hitting earned them the second game 9-1.
