Supporters succeed in staving off nickname change

Temporary restraining order issued, State Board could be forced to delay action until Nov. 2010 NCAA deadline.
In a somewhat unexpected decision by North Dakota district court judge Michael G. Sturdevant of Bottineau, N.D., the State Board of Higher Education was told last Monday to stand down in its efforts to retire the UND Fighting Sioux nickname and logo until a tentatively scheduled December 9th hearing.

On Thursday, November 12 at 2:00 p.m. faculty and students gathered together in front of President Kelley's office in Twamley Hall to rally against the use of coal at UND. The protesters held signs, which read things like "President Kelley make a goal, no more coal," and "If Wisconsin can do it, so can we," and chanted, "No more coal.

Parking rates on the rise

To the majority of the student population, parking permits are considered an overpriced necessity. According to the UND Parking Task Force Final Report, however 'The Task Force concluded that parking fees at UND are far below the level necessary to adequately fund the Parking System.

This was no random occurrence. November 13th was designated international "To Write Love on Her Arms" Day.
