World AIDS Day brings disease to public eye

Tuesday, December 1, 2009 will mark the twenty first observation of World AIDS Day, an international day of awareness that aims to raise the level of understanding about the AIDS pandemic. Here at UND, the Student Health Promotion Office will be participating in the event for the ninth consecutive year, by holding events to educate the community about the threat posed by HIV/AIDS.
UND student gives another perspective on Thanksgiving
A holiday of joy for non-Natives, for Native Americans it's a day of mourning.
The majority of Americans will be joining with their friends and family on Thursday, November 26th for a day of Thanksgiving festivities including a large meal of turkey, pumpkin pie and all the fixin's. However, this is not the case for all Americans. For many members of the Native American community, this day is spent being respectful to the popular European holiday and also remembering the ancestors who died while the newly situated Europeans settled in their new country.
