Students help build instrument for space

The device will be launched to the International Space Station in October.
Students and faculty at UND have made it possible to launch North Dakota's first scientific instrument into space. On Oct. 16, the instrument named AgCam will take its first orbit before beginning its important mission. AgCam is now being prepared by NASA's Kennedy Space Center for the International Space Station launch later this year.

Observatory sees dramatic improvements in recent years

An incoming Ph.D. student in 2001 has been on a mission since coming to UND - improving and adding capabilities to the university's outdated and under-funded observatory. Paul Hardersen, now an assistant professor in the Department of Space Studies and manager of the observatory, said that he wasn't impressed much by the facilities of the time in 2001.

Conference broadens campus anthropology

UND student organization is hosting its first annual event Saturday.
A UND student organization is bringing an event to campus tomorrow for the first time - the first annual Anthropology Conference. The Anthropology Club is hosting and arranging the event. The idea for this conference was discussed last semester, and work was started at the beginning of the spring semester.

Aviation students visit Tokyo

Group spent four full days in Japan over UND's spring break to experience the culture.
For years, the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences has prided itself on being a world leader in training and preparing students for careers in aviation and the innovative school has drawn students to the flight line and into the classrooms from around the globe.

Med. school professor awarded for research

Dr. Brown-Borg has looked at the biological mechanisms of aging.
Earlier this year Dr. Holly Brown-Borg, an Associate Professor of the Pharmacology Physiology and Therapeutics department at UND's Medical School received an award for her research on aging. The Glenn Medical Foundation, which is based in California, bestowed upon her the Glenn Award for Research in Biological Mechanisms of Aging.
