The university will soon offer a new program with Higher One to help students get financial aid refunds faster with a UND Pride debit card.

The United State Geological Survey (USGS), at the request of Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND), released a report last week estimating that there were approximately 3.65 billion barrels of "technically recoverable" crude oil in the Williston Basin region of Western North Dakota.

Group plans silence on campus today for cause
GLSEN is holding the event for the first time in the region this year.
The Red River Valley Chapter of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) plans to hold their first annual day of silence today, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Soaring Eagle statue behind the Chester Fritz Library.
The event is being used as a form of protest against the discrimination, harassment, and abuse suffered by lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender students, as well as their allies.

Today at 3 p.m. in Gamble Hall, nationally renowned financial expert Ed Kane will be giving a presentation entitled "The Making of the Sub-Prime Mortgage Meltdown."
According to C.K. Schultz, External Relations director of the UND College of Business and Public Administration, Kane was considered to speak originally at the Mellem Business Symposium, but due to prior commitments, he was unable to attend.

NDPC is an organization that works with the professional development of people who work in the print journalism, broadcast journalism, public affairs, public relations, creative writing, marketing and advertising fields.

Women's tennis heads into NCC tournament

The 13-4 Fighting Sioux Women's tennis team will put their record on the line tomorrow when they open with the first round of the NCC tournament. In St. Cloud, Minn.
In the latest Division II North Central regional rankings the women held on to the No. 3 spot, trailing only Truman, and Northwest Missouri State.

Fighting Sioux senior Heidi Evans (Roseau, Minn.) has been named by the North Central Conference as one of the league's Female Outdoor Track Athletes of the Week.
Evans took fifth place in the 800-meter run at the Azusa Pacific Invitational last Friday in Azusa, Calif.

Cycling team gears up for growth in club revitalization
UND teams goes 1,2 and 3 at a recent meet at the University of Minnesota.
Though the history is sparse the UND Cycling Team is in what vice president Andrew Yost would describe as "one of the biggest revitalizations in about 10-12 years."
Yost is a member of the cycling club of which sports around 10-15 members and around six racers who make up the core of the group.
