Letter: Time Out Week underappreciated
Amanda Johnson
Issue date: 4/29/08 Section: Opinion
Thank you for posting information about this year's Time Out Week. I was disappointed; that even with all the advertising, how little of the UND campus community attended the events held on or around campus all week, or even knew what Time Out Week was for that matter.
The Dakota Student put their effort in, as did the ISA, who planned and ran this year's Time Out Week, and Wacipi, by getting information and the word spread across the UND campus as well as the Grand Forks Community. 98% of the events were free to attend, and included refreshments (free food!!) and still few students came.
There can be no more excuses like "not having enough education" or "not being diversified" (I believe a certain Greek House claimed this very excuse recently) when there is a whole week taken out of the year to educate the community.
I commend you for letting the students know what is going on. It's just sad to see all the opportunities for the uneducated to become educated going untouched.

I am Native, people are tired of all the whining around about the logo, now you're whining around that people didn't show up for timeout. Why waste their time? It's clear that "Alot" of the NA students are bitter and hostile toward the campus community. (Continued…)
