The 2007-2008 athletic term brought with it several accomplishments and spectacles made by UND sports on both the men's and women's side. Although several seasons are still in session and working towards excellence, here is a recap of this seasons athletic endeavors.

Women's Cross Country

The Sioux women took 16th at the national meet under the lead of senior Heidi Evans and her 30th place finsh, which garnered her All-American honors.

This season's national team of seven included senior Renee Aune, juniors Mandy Gefroh and Callie Malone, senior Kristy Keithley, sophomores Kristi Dahlheimer and Tika Baker.

Also, Evans, Gefroh, Aune and Keithley were named named USTFCCCA All-Academics.

The women took second of seven teams in their last ever NCC meet. Highlighting the meet Evans (3rd), Aune (7th) and Keithley (10th) all placed in the top 10. UND beat out South Dakota by one point in the event to claim second.

Other highlights of the season include a fourth place finish of 30 teams at the Roy Griak Invitational and fifth place at the NCAA DII North Central Regional.

The team is graduating seniors Evans, Aune and Keithley.

Men's Cross Country

The Sioux men took fifth at the final NCC meet; leading the team was sophomore Kyle Rosseau who finished 15th.

Rosseau was also named an All-Academic in the USTFCCCA.

The team took 16th at the NCAA DII North Central Regional, which ended their season.

Other highlights of the season included placing second out of four teams at both the UND Ron Pynn Invitational and the Dickinson State Invitational.

In the team awards, Rosseau was named the most valuable and most improved runner. Sophomore Josh LaBlanc shared in the most improved runner award and was named the hardest worker. Senior Kyle Downs was awarded the Sioux Pride Award.

The team is only graduating Downs.

Women's Volleyball

While the season was not one of their better ones for the history books, the 6-23 Sioux did manage to find a few bright spots in the season with Amanda Polzin leading the Sioux with 310 kills in 110 games. Scheduling also proved to be tough as the team faced four ranked teams through out the season. No. 3 Minnesota-Duluth, No. 4 Concordia-St. Paul, No. 14 Augustana, and No. 15 West Texas A&M. With a Division I season on the horizon though the team closed out their spring practice season at a much improved 12-3. Leading the team will be third year head coach Katy Peterson who was a stand out herself at Augustana from 1997-2000. Helping her will be her twin sister Kari Peterson who also spent a season as an assistant coach at perennial Div. II volleyball powerhouse North Alabama.
