After a stellar showing in a 6-2 exhibition win Sunday night against the Manitoba Bisons, the UND Fighting Sioux men's hockey team will look to start off their season right when they travel to Boston for the IceBreaker Invitational this Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

UND will take on the No. 9 ranked Boston University Terriers on Friday night and will follow that with a show down against the University of Massachusetts Minutemen on Saturday afternoon. Both teams are members of the Hockey East Conference.

The Sioux prepped for this weekend's games with a convincing exhibition win that saw scoring from the top to the bottom of their lineup. Senior captain Ryan Duncan tallied two goals, senior Andrew Kozek notched a goal and Freshmen Jason Gregoire and Brett Hextall netted their first UND goals. Gregoire was named as the WCHA co-rookie of the year in the Grand Forks Herald preseason WCHA coaches' poll earlier this month. Between the pipes, senior Aaron Walski stopped all the shots he faced in splitting time with freshmen Brad Eidsness and Graeme Harrington. The three goalies combined for 20 saves.

Look for UND to use at least Walski and Eidsness in this weekend's games as both are in a continuing battle for the top spot in net. With a night game and an afternoon game to follow, both could see some time. One player that unfortunately won't see the ice this weekend is Freshman David Toews. Toews is knicked up and will not travel to Boston.

Head Coach Dave Hakstol noted that he doesn't feel the injury is real serious and he hopes it won't linger. He also said that he wishes he could take Toews to Boston but knows he can rehab better if he stays in Grand Forks.

UND will be lead on the ice this weekend by Duncan who is the returning nation's leading scorer with 133 career points.

What to expect from the Terriers

The Terriers opened the season with a 4-1 win over the University of New Brunswick on Sunday. BU had a freshman in Vinny Saponari lead them with a goal and an assist. Senior co-captain Joe McCarthy also tallied two assists in the game. The Terriers will look to two freshmen goaltenders to lead the way for the team between the pipes this year. Freshmen Kieran Millan and Grant Rollheiser split time against New Brunswick combining for 23 saves.
